Síntesis
Major review arguing the weight-inclusive (HAES-aligned) paradigm is
better supported by evidence than the weight-normative (BMI-targeting)
paradigm. Reviews failures of long-term weight loss (~95% regain at 5
yrs), iatrogenic harms of dieting (eating disorders, weight cycling,
stigma), and benefits of behaviour-based interventions independent of
weight change. The intellectual reference for the HAES position in the
AAP 2023 debate.
