Longest-running annual national US surveillance survey of adolescent drug
use (n>40,000 grades 8/10/12). Establishes that adolescent alcohol/
tobacco/illicit drug use has declined to historic lows in 2020s, but
vaping spiked 2017-2019 (then fell post-FDA action), cannabis remains
flat-to-rising, and "any past-year illicit drug" reached 50-year low
in 2024. Essential epidemiological reference; LatAm parallel is
