Síntesis

Teen-LABS prospective multicenter cohort (n=242 adolescents). At 3 years post-RYGB or sleeve gastrectomy: BMI -27%, remission of T2D (95%), HTN (74%), dyslipidemia (66%). Nutritional deficiencies common (iron 57%); 13% required additional operation. Established bariatric surgery as legitimate option for severely obese adolescents with comorbidities. Equity concern: most US trial samples non-Hispanic white; LatAm data sparse.
